工人舎 SH6KP10A に Debian lenny をインストール

こんなん買ったので何はともあれ Debianインスコしてみた。

バックアップ

Vista の初回起動に、USB メモリに入れた Debian インストーラを使ってブートし、適当なところで「戻る」を選んでメニューの「シェルの起動」を選んで、

(適当な外付けドライブを /mnt にマウントして、)
# dd if=/dev/hda bs=512 of=/mnt/sh6kp10a.hda.img

とやってハードディスクを丸ごとバックアップ。もちろんバックアップ先には空き領域が 100GB 以上必要。

インスコ

次に改めてインストーラをブートし、Vista からは D: に見える hda3 を削除、C: に見える hda2 を 72GB にリサイズし、空き領域に / と swap を作成。このとき、/ の起動フラグをオフり、Vista が入っている hda2 のフラグをオンにしておく。こうすると Vista の boot loader を使ってメニューが出る。以降の記事もそのつもりで書いているが,ここでフラグを / に付けたままにしておけば、起動時に GRUB を使うようになって、Vista には chainloader を使ってブートするようになる。
あとはいつものようにインストールし、「ハードディスクへの GRUB ブートローダのインストール」で、「マスターブートレコードGRUB ブートローダをインストールしますか?」と聞かれたら、すかさず「いいえ」と答え、インストール先のデバイスに /dev/hda3 と入力する*1
「再起動の準備ができた」と言ってきたら「戻る」を選び、「シェルの起動」を選んで、

# mount /hd-media -o rw,remount  # インストーラのブートに使った USB メモリに書き込む 
# dd if=/dev/hda3 bs=512 count=1 of=/hd-media/grub.mbr
# sync
# mount /hd-media -o ro,remount

こうして作った grub.mbr を、Windows VistaとLinuxを共存させるには(Windows Vista編) − @IT の記事中の bcdedit のコマンドラインで使う。
あとは恐る恐るリブートしてみて、Vista の boot loader から GRUB が起動できるようになったことを確認する。

X が横に伸びている

SH6KP10A(以下 SH6)の解像度は 1024x600 だが、インストーラで入れたままの X だとこの解像度はサポートされず、かわりに 800x600 を引き伸ばして表示する。
/etc/X11/xorg.conf の Modes 行に "1024x600" を足すだけではだめで、

# aptitude install 915resolution

する必要があった。
